What time is it? Aaaaaadventure Time! I... mean... Time for the 24 Hour Meme!

All of this month's prompts must involve a time of day. It can be specific, as in, 'Gai is awake at 5:00 a.m. bursting with the power of youth! Kakashi is not, and Gai aims to change that!' Or it can be general, as in ' Tsunade invites Sakura out for Happy Hour.'

+ Your post most be ANONYMOUS.
+ Your post must fit the monthly theme.
+ For organizational purposes, please post prompt pairings/keywords in the subject of your comment.
+ Play nice. This should be fun for ALL.
+ For every request you make try to fill out AT LEAST one request. Give and you shall receive (and the meme shall live on!).
+ Do not CLAIM prompts. Any given prompts can be filled infinitely, so you needn't claim the one you're writing, out of fear someone else will write for it as well. The more the merrier!
+ Make sure to watch the threads you start, so you'll know when your request has been filled.
+ Feel free to rec this far and wide!

* PLEASE DO NOT "SECOND" PROMPTS. SECONDING INEVITABLY LEADS TO FICS NOT GETTING WRITTEN. 'Seconded' comments will be deleted. No questions asked. And the same goes for ridiculous hooting/hollering/'this turns me on' comments (instead of fills) on prompts themselves.

If you have any questions or concerns, please LJ message one of the mods ([info]thisl0ser[info]0mega19x or [info]anat_astarte) not [info]modpuppet !

Sasuke, Itachi

(Anonymous)
They still have until midnight. Then Edo Tensei wears off.

Time spent

(Anonymous)
Like when they were children, Sasuke sought Itachi. They sat side by side, a respectful distance from each other and the unopportune awkwardness in-between.

Itachi had already made clear he had no more to say. Sasuke now understood why, if only a bit. The time they spent was already gone. The time when they were siblings —close, loving, playful—, the time when love and hate separated them by both a sturdy and a thin line, the time one was gone and the one left behind would not let go.

Time was already spent, goodbyes already said, and tears and blood already shed. But so were the gentle smiles, the familiar poke and the warmth. Itachi, Sasuke mused, would have found it proper that in the end, things were left as they were.

But Sasuke had been too shaken to be able to live and forget. The smoldering fire within him raged on, more powerful than ever. He'd remembered, he'd lived through those short memories again. When the brother he adored overlapped with the murderer he'd grown to despise, all he saw was black and red. Red of blood and black flames of Amaterasu, eating away everything in that despicable place.

A slight shuffle of clothing made Sasuke look at his brother from the corner of his eye. He looked up to the moon too and all he saw was black and red. Tranquil and beautiful, a summer soltice's full moon etched into a clear nightsky.

Yes, at some point, everything would end how it was. And Sasuke was glad that for this last moment, they're back as how they were. Siblings.

When the moon rose to its highest point in the sky, Sasuke didn't dare glance at Itachi. He'd already seen him die before and it was a sight he didn't want to see ever gain. He tensed, hearing every rip and flutter of the flesh so much like paper. Sasuke looked straight ahead, willing himself to think back —he was all alone, he would be left alone like he was before. Everything was unchanged.

He started when a gentle hand guided his head to rest on a still intact shoulder. Sasuke didn't dare shift in the slightest.

Right back where it all began.

Sasuke remembered clearly a young boy resting his head against his older brother's shoulder, content, and the scene was frozen in time.

No words were exchanged. After all, they had already said their proper farewells.

When Sasuke came to, the light had banished. The gravel underneath his cheek scratched the skin but he didn't dare move away. Itachi's warmth still lingered.

Anyone in Konoha

Things that happen in Konoha at 3 am.

Re: Anyone in Konoha 1/2

(Anonymous)
Sarutobi Hiruzen was the last person to leave the Hokage tower at the stroke of 3 A.M. Walking, head bowed, home where his wife and youngest son would already be asleep in their beds.

Regrets, shapeless and numerous, weighed heavy on his shoulders as he walked through the shadows which transformed the place he had sworn to protect at any cost.

Any cost, including his own life, his wife’s life, his sons’.

With that thought on his mind,he sought out his youngest son immediately upon returning home, driven to his son's room by the vague sense of doom that had haunted him ever since he’d opened that damned mission report.

As expected --but still much to his relief--he found Asuma in his bed, sleeping like the proverbial baby he had long stopped being. The boy had just passed his academy exam and was now a Genin; soon he would go on more than just D-Rank missions. Hiruzen himself would send him to fight.

And maybe one day he would come back with a report just like the one that had caused this nightly disciplinary meeting, and on that day Sarutobi Hiruzen wouldn’t be able to call him a traitor either.

Tonight, Hiruzen had granted forgiveness, but the village wouldn’t forget.

*~*~*

At 3 in the morning a former ANBU captain, recently demoted to jounin sensei (and no matter how the Third put it, he knew a demotion when he was on the receiving end of one), stood at the gates to the Hyuuga compound and hesitated. He wanted nothing more than to go to bed and forget all about the unpleasant hearing for a few blissful hours of sleep at least, and yet…

And yet he had that feeling again, the pesky one, the one that told him he had better check the training grounds, and once he had that feeling – premonition, really – he knew he wouldn’t be able to sleep until he’d done it, but if he did, and his suspicion proved right, he would feel obligated to go there to retrieve his burden. But what choice did he have, really?

He activated his Byakugan.

Of course

So, he went reluctantly, trying not to think too much about the previous hours and the endless talk that had filled the big room like clouds of smoke while he, the fallen hero, just sat there looking like he was slowly being smothered.

It was a strange sensation, losing that much respect for someone you used to admire in such a short amount of time.

Hinata, the midnight hour

(Anonymous)
Hinata sneaks out to train alone.

Re: Hinata, the midnight hour [1/2]

/Hopes anon likes NaruHina

When Hinata heard the wood of her Father’s bed creak, she knew that she was safe.

Every night for the past six months, she’d hidden underneath her bed sheets, giving her Father the illusion that she was sound asleep, and at around midnight when her Father finally dozed off, she would sneak out of the Hyuga clan compound. Now, unlike most teenagers, Hinata didn’t sneak out of her house to meet up with her friends—or a boy for that matter—she snuck out to train.

She pushed away the covers, and fully clothed and kitted out with her shinobi tools, she pushed open her window and jumped down as quietly as one could from the first floor. It wasn’t a particularly far drop from her bedroom, but you had to brace yourself for the impact to avoid injury, or alerting the entire household that you were sneaking out.

As she jumped, her long, violet coloured hair brushed against the pale stone wall and a gentle wind blew some of her hair across her face. The sky was cloudy that night, an unusual sight for a mid-summer night. The summer climate of Konoha wasn’t something that put Hinata off from training during the day, it was more her desire to be as strong as Naruto and the small fact that she felt really embarrassed if anyone ever saw her training. Insecurity and feelings of self-doubt had ruled Hinata’s life for too long, but she still didn’t feel she was strong enough to overcome these obstacles.

Hinata crouched as she ran towards the clan compound gates; she looked over her shoulder to check that no-one had been roused by her impromptu departure. She was safe.

Walking through the streets of Konoha at midnight was an exciting yet daunting experience. It was hard to imagine how the streets could be so busy during the day, with people jostling around by the market when they were so silently empty at night.

On Hinata’s midnight trips to the training grounds, she would always walk past Naruto’s apartment, hoping, even if it was just for a moment, that he’d see her. But he never did. Although she hadn’t actually confessed her love to Naruto, she knew that on some level that he must be aware of the feelings she held for him, otherwise he was the most clueless boy in Konoha.

As she squeezed through the metal fence that marked the boundaries of the training grounds, some of the clouds began to disperse and the temperature dropped slightly. Hinata folded her arms across her chest in a feeble attempt to try and keep warm. A gust of wind grazed past Hinata, making her hair flutter around and stirred up some fallen leaves.

She walked over to the small wooded area in the corner and searched for some dry wood that she could use to start up a small fire. After gathering a small armful of firewood, she heard a faint noise. She gently dropped her load and activated her Byakugan. With her eyesight enhanced, all of her other senses became heightened, she could hear the exhalations of the mysterious being, she could faintly smell the scent of a burning fire, but as the figure was faced away from Hinata, she was not able to put an identity to this person.

She pulled out a pair of shuriken from the holster on her right leg as quietly as she could, and crept towards the figure like an assassin. She slowed down her breathing, which in turn slowed her heart beat down; with one swift move she threw the shuriken at the figure. Just as the shuriken left Hinata’s hands, she saw a blue ball of chakra in the figure’s palm. It was Naruto. Her face started to burn up.

Kakashi/Genma

(Anonymous)
Kakashi always visits the memorial stone at dawn, Genma always visits at dusk. They're friends from their ANBU days but since Kakashi got a genin team their paths ceased to crossed until one night when Genma stays late and Kakashi comes early.

Ino, 3am

(Anonymous)
It's 3am and Ino is on maternity ward duty!

Duckling (sorry, got a cracky idea in my head and had to run with it.)

(Anonymous)
Night shift at Konoha Hospital was a radically different beast from the day shift, Ino was quickly figuring out. Fewer medics meant more work, more patients and more chances that something could go wrong...

But thankfully, she thought to herself, this wasn't the emergency room or even the main floor. She was pulling her all-nighter in the maternity ward. Outside of the unexpected set of twins in room eight, things had been pretty calm.

And then Sakura burst in the door.

"Ino!" she shrieked. "I need your help!"

Ino spun around, adrenaline surging. Sakura was a talented medic. She was almost always on the front lines. For her to need help...

"What..."

"Naruto found Sasuke!!" Sakura didn't even pause for breath. "Kakashi's bringing him up! Prep a room, right now! And get ready!"

"Gods, Sakura, you're full down there already? Why didn't you just say so!" Ino breathed a sigh of relief as she checked the board. "I can fit him in room five. Do you need anything else?"

"Yeah." Sakura nodded as she grabbed Ino by the wrist. "I need YOU!"

Before she could even ask, the doors burst open again.

Sasuke's panicked and agonizing screams drowned out anything Kakashi may or may not have said as she motioned them into the open room. Sakura pulled the curtains and slammed the door, leaving Ino got her first look at the prodigal Uchiha.

"... What... what in the seven hells?"

Sasuke curled up on the bed, hands clutching a painfully swollen abdomen. Tears streamed down his face.

"We found him in Orochimaru's lair." Kakashi replied. "The snake was experimenting on him."

Ino trembled. That, she had the feeling, was an understatement. And suddenly, she realized exactly why Sakura had come to her.

"You can't possibly think that... It's impossible... There's no way... even someone as twisted as Orochimaru couldn't have..." Ino stuttered. She tenuously put a hand on Saskue's stomach, and felt something push down inside it. "Oh my god... He's... he's actually in labor!"

"Ino, I don't know what to do!" Sakura added. "Heart rate and blood pressure are clibming. He's undernourished, but still relatively healthy, I think, for a pregnant... person. I don't know how to deliver a baby!"

Ino had already activated her chakra, and was attempting to get a better look at what she was dealing with.

"This will hardly be like delivering a baby." Ino cursed. Sasuke probably wasn't intentionally trying to make things difficult, but he was in far too much pain to just hold still. "It'll have to be surgically removed. But from the looks of it, the freak implanted it just inside the abdominal cavity. There's no telling what it's attached itself to. We open him up, there's a very good chance he'll bleed to death."

"Yeah, but if we don't?"

"Once that sac ruptures, pretty much the same thing."

Sakura took a deep breath.

"Sedate him." she ordered. "I'll get Shizune to prep an operating room as soon as possible. How much time do you think we can spare?"

"Not enough to do either." Ino insisted grimly as she pulled a scalpel out of her pouch. "Sakura, Kakashi, I need you to hold him down. Now!"

Kankuro, burning the midnight oil

Itachi 2 a.m.

(Anonymous)
When you're sick, it's always worse in the middle of the night.

Re: Itachi 2 a.m.

(Anonymous)
Devil's hands are holding him down. There is no moon in the nightsky, nothing but darkness and the smell of ashes and dirt for company. No air, no soothing breeze.

All his eyes can see are both blood red and searing white-hot flames. Even behind his eyelids, his nearly sighless eyes capture every detail of his pain.

Devil's hands contort around his throat and chest. He gasps, struggles for breath. His hands are clasped over his tormentor's, trying to pull away with limited success. It only makes the pain more real, palpable; it's carved into his weary bones.

A pale hand reaches blindly into the folds of a cloak. It masterfully extracts a vial with transluscent liquid that takes in the blend of colours of the deepest hour of the night. He manages to spill it into his mouth with more effort than he had thought to be necessary. He forces the bitterness down to quench the flames, the raging inferno in his chest.
Bile rises, his very body unwilling, but he still struggles to keep it down. He can't see anything, as the stars and moon are absent from the sky, yet the world spins all around him, mocking, sneering. Time trickles out of his grasp, away and away.

Devil's laugher resonates in a cacophony only he can hear.
He wills himself to breathe and his lungs fill with fire. Maybe, he thinks deliriously, the night's light has been consumed by the dark flames of Amaterasu.

Gaara, 2 am.

(Anonymous)
Desperate for the relief that only deep slumber can bring, after a long day the Kazekage attempts what he considers to be a highly unorthodox method of relaxing himself.

Bonus points if he's thinking about a female (make it Hinata for extra)!

You think about women?!

(Anonymous)
As Kankuro was returning from the toilet (hey, when you gotta go, you gotta go...), he heard a peculiar sound. His brother, the Kazekage, was... awake and... counting?

"five hundred and fifty three... five hundred and fifty four... five hundred and fifty five..."

He wiped the sand from his eyes and knocked lightly. The response he received was about as harsh as you'd expect from a tailed beast.

"What."

"I thought Baki was doing all the accounting stuff now." Kankuro yawned. He pushed the door open, and Gaara sat up in his bed.

"I wasn't counting money. I was counting sheep."

"Counting sheep?" he scratched his head. The fact that it was two in the morning didn't exactly boost his reasoning ability. "What the hell are you doing that for? Sunagakure doesn't have any sheep. And don't sheep need, like, grass or something? We don't have any grass either."

"No, we don't have sheep and I don't plan on buying any sheep..."

"Then why are you counting them?"

"Because I can't sleep." Gaara half-confessed, half-barked. "... and Temari suggested I try it."

"Counting sheep." Kankuro scoffed as he yawned. "I bet she got the idea from that Nara guy out in Fire Country. He's always counting fluffy stuff. Clouds or something."

"Well, it isn't working."

For someone who spent most of his life forcefully depriving himself of sleep, Gaara was uncharacteristically frustrated by this relatively insignificant bout of insomnia. Kankuro, however, wasn't about to point that out to his little brother. By this point, he was awake enough to know he was not awake enough to dodge the incoming flurry of sand attacks.

"Kankuro, what do you do when you can't sleep?"

"Me?" he scratched his head again. "I guess I relax by thinking about... um... stuff."

"Stuff." Gaara raised an eyebrow.

"You know. Stuff. That I like."

"Would it kill you to be a little more specific?" Gaara growled. "Building puppets? New types of poisons? Body paint? Hamburger steak?"

"No!" Kankuro spat. "I think about women! Okay?!"

Again, Gaara raised an eyebrow.

"You think about women?"

"Yeah..." Kankuro admitted sheepishly. "I think about women. I imagine I'm at the onsen, and I just watch the women. The way their legs move when they walk. The way their clothes crumple when they undress. The way their breasts bounce when they laugh. The way the water sticks to their hair."

"And this makes you sleep?"

Kankuro nodded.

"Every night." he exclaimed with yet another yawn. "Never do make it through the entire crowd. Now, if you'll excuse me, I believe I have a date or three waiting for me at the onsen..."

Gaara was so lost in thought, he didn't even notice his brother slip out of the room and back down the hall.

"Think about women..." he muttered to himself as he lay back down on the pillow. It was certainly worth a try. He pulled the blanket up to his chin and closed his eyes. "Think about women... legs... clothes... bouncing breasts..."

Hardly a minute had passed before he sat up with another growl.

"Dammit. All she does is blush."

Sasuke/Naruto, 3am, angst, fluff, head injury, hallucinations

(Anonymous)
My needs are kinda complicated. ^^;

So Naruto was alone when he was little and going through grade school. He had no friends. Except Sasuke. And then there was Kakashi. And then there was Sakura. He had people that loved him. But then he started having feelings for both of his teammates, more for Sasuke who had been his very first friend and understood him the most, with Sakura it was more of a "she cares about me and she's a pretty girl" thing. Naruto is torn up about being attracted to Sasuke, so he never acts on it. Then Sasuke leaves to go to Orochimaru, and Naruto chases after him like a desperate starving man after food. And as they fought, Naruto pushing himself farther than ever, he realized that he was in fact desperately in love with his best friend. Then Sasuke knocked him out. And Naruto's brain took over, transferring his soul-burning feelings onto a safe, imaginary person: Hinata. everyone thinks Naruto is just a liar when he says he's hanging out with his girlfriend and everyone can see no one is there, figuring it's just one of his oddities since Sasuke left and his missions are harder.

Then Sasuke comes back, noticing that something deep is off about Naruto, who seems to be spending all of his time out alone when not on a mission.

It's up to the author how this happens, but it's at 3am when Naruto snaps out of it. He wasn't in love with her. Hinata wasn't real. Cue fluffy Sasuke/Naruto early morning cuddles and kisses and desperate clinging. :D
